Apparatus requests vapor capture device for Nevada Solar One

On the Hermitage Guggenheim proposal for Lithuania: "gravity defying" architecture, the gesture attempts to "look" like a satellite. As if buildings will tend to become satellites. Some feel they must contort their enclosures to this extent, as if aerospace design where these expressions might seem to be more functional. Cities, design firms and museums have leaders who need to prove things. The art it may contain, will Vilnius care about the art longer than Las Vegas cared?

Worker Deaths on Strip Projects:
I was in a play structure recently at a County park and the experience of being in that play structure seemed of much higher quality and reality than most of the buildings on the Strip.

The Strip assembles mutated hack jobs of enclosures pretending to be anywhere else but here. You know, here, the present, a high desert location. City Center, for example, manifests corporate agenda placed upon the region really. It imports designer brands and attempts to renew teams of tired-out hookers. This corporate expression tries to justify this latest gasp as Green. City Center is an insult to everything that actually will be Green. And now Nevada has the PR disaster of the construction worker body counts, while the Starch-itects move on to their next hosts.

Given the premise of real-time gaming supported by global air transit, it is practically impossible to call another mega-project on the Strip "Green".
If Las Vegas really decides to be Green they would be forced to consider things such as: cutting 50% of air travel into the valley. Try selling that idea to your boss...

Charles Weiner interviews David Curtis at a social event:

Charles Weiner: So I haven't seen you around, weren't you President or Vice President of CAC at some point?

David Curtis: Yes, back in 2000-02.

CW: Are you licensed to do architecture?
DC: (hesitates) Yes, I am licensed to practice residential design in the State of Nevada. Residential design is another way of saying residential architecture, but protectionists in Nevada perceive that they somehow own the word "architecture". I have sat the ARE for California, and am in the process of obtaining my architecture license for California.

CW: So what kind of work are you doing... entitlements?
DC: No. I recently worked on a Science Museum addition in Orange County for John Fisher.

A happy selection process, though dated, was the Rolywholyover A Circus random number generator at the John Cage Retrospective(MOCA).The work was on site then, waiting to be selected in the wings randomly; placement, duration, all selected randomly; and one could also access the work in waiting. 20 APR 2006
